This is a short guide on how to get what you want. I have always been a firm believer that anyone can reach their goals (within reason) if they put their mind to it. My life has had some incredible plot twists and now, I wake up living my dream - every single day.
People have often asked me how I achieved specific accomplishments. I will shed light into the exact method that I do to get what I want.
1. Figuring Out the "What"
The first step is to ask yourself:
"What is it that I truly desire?"
The question sounds so simple but majority of people don't actually know the answer. This is because we rarely stop to ask ourselves where we want to go because let's be real - life gets busy.
If you can clearly state exactly what you want, give yourself a pat on the back. If you cannot clearly state what you want, here is a short exercise to help you decide:
- Identify What Has Fulfilled You: Think about the projects, roles, or activities that brought you the most satisfaction. What aspects of those experiences made you feel fulfilled?
- What Matters Most to You: Make a list of your core values and passions. Aligning your goals with these will help ensure that your next chapter feels meaningful.
- Long-Term Vision: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years? Identifying a direction can help you set meaningful goals.
- Decide: Now, in one sentence, come up with one desire that you truly want.
By figuring out this VERY important question, we are actively taking control of our ship and leading ourselves down the path we want to go. Don't worry if you adjust the goal as time goes on - that is okay. The most important thing is to start with a direction.
2. Figuring Out the "How"
Now that we've established WHAT we want, let's work on breaking down HOW we will get there.
What needs to happen? How would that look like? Who else needs to be involved? How do I do it? What will be the outcome?
There are all very important things to consider.
3. Enlist the Help of Others
Let's be real - hard tasks are not easy when done alone. It's like trying to put the bedsheets on by yourself: you can definitely get the job done but what if you enlist the help of one other person? See how simple life can be if we all just work together?
The best way to get help is to reach out to 10 people who have already accomplished what you want to do. These mentors literally know how difficult it was to get there and exactly what it took. Lean into that. Ask thoughtful questions, be vulnerable, and most importantly - be appreciative.
Remember what your goal is. Write it down on a piece of paper and stick it somewhere where you will easily see it. If you keep your heart and mind focused, you will surely achieve the goal in due time.
A Book Recommendation: Super Great
If you are interested in getting closer to achieving your goals, I would recommend checking out the book "Mind Magic" by James R. Doty, MD.
No, it is not full of mumbo-jumbo. No, manifestation is not voodoo magic.
Dr. Doty is a neuroscientist who breaks down what manifestation is. He shares about his experiences, why it works, and how to practice it.
The best part of the book is that contains sessions where he poses questions and guides the reader through very insightful thought exercises.
I definitely found a lot of value from the book and would highly recommend it to anyone who feels like they would like to spur a great change in their life.
